Two ACAT isoforms (ACAT-1 and ACAT-2) are reported in primates and mice.

Distribution
  • ACAT-1 ... ubiquitous in all tissues of all the animals examined
  • ACAT-2 ... liver and intestine in mice and nonhuman primates, but only in the intestines in human
