- This paper reports that the core of polar lipids is fully saturated, but this observation was later refuted. The polar lipid fraction is only 50% of the total lipids and more than 92% of polar lipids are glycolipids. Among glycolipids, mannose is predominant (86%). See Sprott et al. 1996.
