(±)8-HEPE causes barnacle eggs to hatch with an IC_5 _0 = 2.4 x 10^- ^6 M Shing_TKM et al.. Reports conflict as to whether the barnacle hatching activity is a result of the 8(R)-or the 8(S)-enantiomer Shing_TKM et al. Hill_EM et al.. Apparently, only the 8(R)-HEPE induces oocyte maturation in the starfish Shing_TKM et al..
